SafeCo Insurance
- Personal auto insurance customers will receive a 15% refund of two months of their annual auto premium as of April 7, 2020, pending regulatory approval.
- The refunds will begin in April and will be issued either by check or in the manner the customer made their most recent payment
- The payments will happen automatically. Customers do not need to call Safeco to receive the refund
Travelers Insurance
- Stay-at-Home Auto Premium Credit Program, which will automatically give U.S. personal auto insurance customers a 15% credit on their April and May premiums
- Customers who pay by monthly installments will receive the automatic credit on future bills
- Customers who have already paid their billing account in full will receive a direct payment. We are working with regulators to obtain all the necessary approvals
Progressive Insurance
- Subject to approval by state regulators, Progressive personal auto customers who have a policy in force as of April 30 will be credited 20% of their April premiums in May and personal auto customers with a policy in force as of May 31 will be credited 20% of their May premiums in June
- Customers will not need to take any actions to receive the benefits. The credits will be applied automatically to the customer’s policy and those customers who have paid in full will receive a payment of the credited amounts
- If they have a balance on the policy, we’ll apply the credit directly to the remaining balance. If they’ve already paid in full, we’ll return the money to the payment account we have on file
Grange Insurance
- Grange will be returning a portion of premium to personal auto policyholders in the form of a 25% refund for the months of April and May
- All Grange Insurance personal auto customers who have policies in force between April 1, 2020, and May 31, 2020 will receive refunds. The exact method of calculating the 25% refund is being reviewed and will be submitted to each state’s DOI for approval
- Grange intends to issue a refund to all personal auto customers, including those who have paid in full
Erie Insurance
- Pending State Approval: Dividend to be paid out as well as overall rate reduction
- This dividend payout will be paid to personal and commercial auto (fleet and non-fleet) insurance Customers with policies in force as of April 1, 2020.
- The dividend payout represents about 30 percent of two months’ auto insurance premium for an eligible Customer. That translates to 5 percent of a Customer’s annual premium
- Customers will receive a single check for the dividend in the mail in mid-May
- Erie will be offering a rate reduction to all personal and commercial auto policies pending regulatory approval
- The adjustment will be applied automatically at renewal
- We currently do not know when the rate reductions will start
Nationwide Insurance
- All Nationwide insureds will receive $50 credit
- Direct Billed customers will receive a check in the mail.
- Automatic EFT will be deposited into the account it is drafted from
- Automatic credit card will be deposited back to the credit card
Western Reserve Group
- Pending regulatory approval, Western Reserve is reducing rates. They are lowering premiums by more than $3.7 million for personal auto policyholders in addition to the almost $2.0 million in rate reductions offered to policyholders effective March of this year
Metlife
- For the months of April and May, our MetLife Auto customers who are paid to date will receive a 15% credit based on their monthly premiums
The Hartford
- COVID-19 Personal Auto Payback Plan: The Hartford will be issuing a 15 percent refund on two months’ worth of premium for all customers with an in force personal auto policy as of April 1, 2020
- The Hartford plans to issue payments to customers either by check or direct deposit into the billing account on record. Customers do not need to take any action to receive this credit
