Why is World Book Day Important?
World Book Day is important because it encourages people to read and read to their children. It is also a great time to celebrate the importance of reading. Reading and storytelling are a crucial part of development for young children even if they are too young to understand the book. Below are a few ways reading can improve your child’s cognitive skills taken from https://www.pbs.org/parents/family-storytelling.
- Helps your child learn sounds, words, language, and more
- Ignite your child’s imagination and stimulate curiosity
- Develop child’s brain, ability to focus, social skills, and communication skills
Making reading a part of your daily routine will not only improve your child’s life but your life as well. So, take 10 minutes out of your day and grab a book!
How is Mitchell Insurance Giving Back on World Book Day?
The Mitchell Insurance Agency has connected to this World Book Day more than any other year. This past year we lost Jenny Wandell, a sister to our owner Robb and mother to one of our co-workers. She was an amazing, caring person who dedicated her life to teaching kindergarten. She knew the importance of reading and how it enriches the lives of young kids.
That is why Mitchell Insurance is excited to announce that we have partnered with the Boardman Arts Park in Delaware, Ohio, to put our first little library in our local community! We are dedicating the little library to Jenny Wandell to continue her mission of education and growth in the minds of young children.
Mitchell Insurance is planning to have our first little library open and ready for the public by mid-June! Follow along on our social media pages to see our progress and see the exciting things we are doing with our free little library!
